Due to the recent growth of our club, our participation in the community has been skyrocketing. Having added 5 new members to the books our ability to accomplish our goals has become increasingly achievable.
Most recently our club hosted a wonderful speaker from the Lally School of Business, Jeane Howard. We assembled along with members of the community, fellow Rotarians and several guests from the local newspapers to enjoy her talk on Entrepreneurship in these tough economic times.
Many of the local townsfolk may have noticed our increased presence at the traffic circle, located at the corner of Balltown Road and River Road. Our efforts can be seen in the beautiful flowers filling the median. A pleasant blend on annuals and perennials, are enough to brighten up even the most dreary days.
We also had the honor of visiting the Glen Eddy Senior Living Center in early June to hold a Blanket Party. We found the experience both productive and rewarding. Having the opportunity to work side by side with the elderly to make baby blankets that will soon be shipped to a hospital in Olanchito, Honduras. For more information about Blankets for Babies please see the link to the right side of the page.
Members of the community may recognize our work from the Pancake Breakfast that we hosted at Immanuel Lutheran Church earlier this year to benefit a family struggling with the burden of Childhood Leukemia. This event was a great success, raising a total of $1,200.
