We had a great pancake fundraiser.  It wasn’t great because the DeBritz family will be getting about $2,000 to help them with their journey.

It was great because it was a gathering of some of the coolest people in the Capital District.  There were people that knew the DeBritz family from St. Stephens Church, Niskayuna Softball, and Hillside Elementary School all turning out asking what they can do.  We had 3 volunteers as of Tuesday.  On Saturday Morning we had 30 people come to help.  This was all done through a word of mouth e-mail campaign in 4 days.

The volunteers came from The Girl Scouts, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenville Rotary, Scotia Rotary, and we had 100% participation from Niskayuna Rotary. There was a warmth in the room that reminded me of exactly why I am a Rotarian.

We left the breakfast with a slew of ideas about how we can improve our effectiveness.  We are a small commited group, enjoying our opportunities to serve.
